ADAMS -- Five Adams Memorial High School girls, accompanied by Agnes Thompson, physical education instructor, attended a physical education recruitment clinic at Springfield College. The program included a discussion of sciences, extra-curricular accessories, professional physical education courses, skills and techniques. The girls who attended are Suzanne Ziemba, Susan Holmes, Karen Kniepfer, Alice Jarowski and Dorothy Shaw. CLARKSBURG -- Five young people of Clarksburg participated in a capon project last summer sponsored by 4-H and the North Adams Rotary Club. At a luncheon yesterday, they all received awards. Theresa Pevoski won first prize for a bird weighing over nine pounds. Blue ribbons were awarded to Patricia Spofford and Ernest Dix and red ribbons to Mary Murphy and Frank Davignon.

CHESHIRE -- Marine Lance Cpl. Thomas Gardner, son of Thomas and Dianne Gardner of Cheshire, has received the parachutist badge upon completion of the three-week airborne course at the U.S. Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, Ga. Lance Cpl. Gardner is a 1985 graduate of Hoosac Valley High School.

CLARKSBURG -- The regular meeting of the Clarksburg Seniors Club was held Nov. 7 with 66 members present. Officers elected for two-year terms are Lillian Morey, president; Inga Choquette, vice president; Evelyn Stalker, treasurer; and Margaret Lanoue, secretary.
ADAMS -- At a workshop meeting Monday, the Selectmen voted 4-1 for current Town Administrator James Leitch, who is retiring at the end of the year, to be acting administrator in the interim. While the workshop was originally scheduled to discuss services to be provided by MMA Consulting Inc., which is helping in the administrator search, Selectwoman Myra Wilk motioned to appoint Leitch acting administrator to help finish certain projects within town.
