WILLIAMSTOWN -- The 31 points given up by the undefeated Ephs (4-0) were the fewest they had given up since beating Skidmore 47-31 on Dec. 7, 2011.

MCLA (2-1) dropped its first game as Williams held the Trailblazers to 22 percent shooting from the floor in the 65-31 victory.

In this game, the Ephs never trailed. MCLA's Sara Hamilton tied the game at 2-2 on a jumper with 18:41 left in the firt half but Jennie Harding drained a 3-point shot at the other end to put the Ephs up for keeps at 5-2.

MCLA's Lucy Tremblay's 3-pointer with 12:33 left in the first half made it 12-9, but Williams responded with a 16-2 run. When Kellie MacDonald hit a 3-ball with 4:52 left, it was 28-11, Williams.

The Ephs outscored the Trailblazers 28-15 in the second half.

Claire Baecher had a game-high 17 points for Williams while Ellen Cook added 14.

Kait Chenevert had 10 points for the Trailblazers.

Williams' Danny Rainer had a game-high nine rebounds, while MCLA's Johanna Miner had eight.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- At halftime Sunday night, the MCLA men trailed Williams by one point and had to be thinking about upsetting its North Berkshire rival.

The Ephs (4-0) came out in the second half and kicked that idea away, outscoring the Trailblazers (0-2) by 23 points in the final 20 minutes en route to a 102-78 win in the nightcap of a doubleheader.

points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Ephs. His previous best was 22, scored on Dec. 7, 2011, against Keene State.

Mayer was one of six Ephs to score in double figures. All five starters scored in double figures and John Weinheimer came off the bench to score a career-high 17 points in 21 minutes.

The Trailblazers led early on and took a 37-36 lead on Vermon Cross' 3-point shot with 24 seconds to go. Williams got the lead back when Mitch Scace fouled James Klemm (11 points) with eight seconds left and Klemm made both free throws, putting Williams up 38-37 at the break.

Williams came storming out of the locker room and went on an 8-2 run over the first 2:54. MCLA did cut the second-half lead to 46-41 on Richard Johnson's basket with 16:34 left. But Klemm answered with a trey and MCLA never got any closer.

Daniel Wohl had 16 points and Taylor Epley 14 for the Ephs. Nate Robertson had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. He also dished six assists.

Cross led MCLA with 13 points and Bilal Shabazz had 11.

Williams women's hockey

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Gabby Vukasin and Andree Heller both scored hat tricks and the Ephs rolled to a an 8-1 victory over the University of New England on Saturday.

Williams (2-1) got off to a quick start scoring three goals in the first period.

Vukasin scored two of her three goals in the first period. Nitsan Goldstein added a goal and two assists, and Natalie Bernstein added the eighth goal. Abby Belcrest had three assists on the night.

Rachel Nguyen picked up the victory, making nine saves in the proccess.

The Ephs did the most damage on the power play, scoring three times on seven chances.

Williams men's hockey

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Williams came from down two goals to tie the game in the third period, but it wasn't enough as Custavus Adolphus grabbed a 4-2 victory Saturday.

Tyler Lapic broke the tie at 14:41 and Jack Walsh scored an empty-net goal with 11 seconds left in a 4-2 win over the Ephs.

Evan Dugdale and Eric Rubino got the goals for Williams (2-2-0). Gustavus Adolphus (4-5-1) also had goals from Ryan Johnson and Andy Pearson.

Williams fired 29 shots in the game, 10 of which came in thee third period. Sean Dougherty made 27 saves in the loss for Williams.
