FLORIDA -- The Busy Bee Cloverbuds and the Nimble Thimble 4-H club met at the Florida Consolidated School with their leader, Mrs. Einar Oleson on Thursday. There were seven Cloverbuds and 10 Nimble members present. An election of officers was held with the following being named: President, Kathy Chilson; vice president, Sandra Roberts; secretary, Terry Rennell; treasurer, Barbara Burdick; and news reporter, Linda Wheeler.
NORTH ADAMS -- Seven North Berkshire persons are eligible for junior clerk and typist ratings, it was announced by the state Civil Service Board in Boston. From North Adams are Jacqueline Aubin, Jean Gomeau, Althea Ransford, Dorothy Raimer and Betty Stevens. From Adams is Florence Tiedemann and from Clarksburg is Patricia Bemis.

ROWE -- Army Private Dean Rice, son of Robert and Margaret Rice of Rowe, has completed basic training a Fort Leonard Wood, MO. During the training, students received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, first air and army history and traditions.
NORTH ADAMS -- Robin Estrada, daughter of Sandra Singer of 87 Johnson St., and Sidney Ogert of 376 Union St., has been promoted in the U.S. Air Force to the rank of senior airman. Airman Estrada is an inventory management specialist at George Air Force Base, Calif., with the 831st Supply Squadron.

READSBORO, Vt. -- Two Readsboro Central School students have been awarded free season ski passes at the Mount Snow/Haystack Ski Area in West Dover. The passes are awarded as part of the resort’s "Aiming for Excellence" program. To be eligible, students had to attain highest honors for three out of the last four marking periods. The students are Curtis Berard, son of Barry and Jody Berard of South Hill and Drew Boudreau, son of Tom and JoAnne Boudreau of Tunnel Street.
NORTH ADAMS -- The Northern Berkshire YMCA Betta Swim Team hosted the Holyoke YMCA Vikings on Nov. 23. Although they lost to the larger team, the Betta swimmers put in a strong performance. In individual events, Danielle Wineberg came in first in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, Kara Senecal came in first in the 200-yard individual medley and the 50-yard freestyle and Amanda Krutiak took the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breast stroke.
