NORTH ADAMS -- American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 met on Monday, Oct. 1, at the post home.
This was a joint dinner meeting with the post to recognize the participants who attended Girls and Boys State programs in June. Dinner was served by the men of the post.
All the participants gave short talks about their experiences and all were thankful for the opportunity to attend the program.
Gloria Schilling, District One Girls State chairwoman spoke about the program and said how exciting it is for the girls to attend. She stressed that young people need to get involved and she encouraged this year's delegates to get their parents and relatives out to vote.
District One Director Charlene Gero thanked everyone for inviting her to come. Mayor Richard Alcombright also spoke and thanked the group for inviting him. Kathy Millard, retired principal of McCann Technical High School, thanked both the ladies auxiliary and post men for giving students the opportunity to send students to Boys and Girls State.
Dessert was provided by the auxiliary.
The next meeting will be the Unit Christmas party on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m., at The Hub Restaurant.
