NORTH ADAMS -- Air man Robert Cooper, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Cooper of 151 Franklin St., will leave Sunday to begin a tour of duty at the Naval Air Training Squadron 28 at Corpus Christi, Texas. The young airman enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September, 1961 and had boot training at the Naval Training Station at Great Lakes, Ill. FLORIDA -- Two local young women will leave tonight for Miami, Fla., to help defend the state’s vegetable judging crown at the National 4-H Convention, which will be held next week in the Hotel Deauville.
They are Marilyn Williams of the Drury section of Florida, Mass., and Lindsay Ann Wil liams of 80 Orchard St., Adams. They are both members of the Handy 4-H Club in Florida.

READSBORO, Vt. -- Twelve girls from Readsboro have completed the Red Cross Babysitting Course. The course was given by Carol Michaelson, RN, of the North Adams Regional Hospital, and sponsored by the PTG.
The girls are Abby Birch, Nicole Marks, Allison Smith, Erin O’Hearn, Cecea Lescar beau, Tammy Caruso, Angela Bologna, Michelle O’Hearn, Corie Lee, Heidi Smith, Chris tina DeMasi and Jennifer Comai.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- George Tremblay Jr. of Lanes boro has been appointed finance manager of the Vis iting Nurse Association of Northern Berkshire. He began his duties Nov. 9.
In his new position, he will be responsible for agency finances and the planning, coordination and directions of the business department.

NORTH ADAMS -- A Williamstown businessman has opened State Road Car Wash & Self Storage. Michael John Zeppieri, owner of RCI Real Estate in Williamstown and North Adams, said he decided to open the new business so his real estate company could grow in another area and because of the need for local self storage. The business is located at 213 State Road.
NORTH ADAMS -- In Monday Night MCLA Adult Hockey League action, Car iddi Auto tied Gringo’s, 6-6. Nick Bradley completed a hat trick for Gringo’s, Jason Tanz man scored two and Omar Ocha had one.
For Cariddi, Darin Lane led the way with two goals, followed by Peter Mirante, Tom Baily, Bob Plienes and Gary DiLorenzo with one each.
