NORTH ADAMS -- Eight new members of Brownie Troop 20 of St. Joseph’s School were invested yesterday in St. Francis Parish Hall. New members are Barbara Breda, Carol Cutler, Christine Fisher, Dale Keating, Pattiann LaBonte, Bonnie Jean Cole, Janice Righi and Mary Jo Swift. Their leader is Mrs. John Fisher. ADAMS -- James Pieri, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Pieri of 22 Harding Ave., has received a regular commission as second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, after having held a reserve commission since his graduation from Boston University last June. Lt. Pieri was selected on the basis of his performance of duty, educational background and potential as an Air Force officer.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Several members of the Christmas Brook Figure Skating Club passed tests at a session hosted by the Pittsfield Figure Skating Club. Members passing in dance were Michelle Moon, pre-silver for 14 step; Jenna Cece, preliminary for Dutch waltz and Canasta tango; and Alison Behr, Laura Cece, Andrea Davis, Liza Davis and Tara Dudek, preliminary for swing.

CHESHIRE -- Airman Scott Wilton, son of Andrea Wilton of 76 Yorkshire Dr., and Scott Wilton of West Stockbridge, has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. During the six weeks of training, the airmen studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and

received special training in human relations. Airman Wilton is a 1986 graduate of Hoosac Valley High School.

NORTH ADAMS -- Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Nathan Hosier, son of Michael and Theresa Hosier of North Adams, aboard the USS Duluth, spent part of his summer off the coast of the Hawaiian Islands, taking part in a multinational operation. Hosier is a boatwain’s mate on board the Duluth. He supervises the maintenance of the ship’s surfaces and deck equipment and operates small auxiliary boats carried on the ship.

NORTH ADAMS -- Members of the Drury High School Academic Decathlon team, the "Mental Jocks," took first place in competition last month at Pittsfield High School. They are Sean Carollo, Simon Armata, Allyson Holmes, Marla Moore, Molly MacGregor, Alcide Bullett, Mike DePaoli, Elizabeth Wol and Daniel Nolan.
