ADAMS -- A tenderfoot investiture of eight boys featured a Court of Honor for Boy Scout Troop 56 last night in St. Stanislaus Hall. Scoutmaster Chester Krzeminski presented the tenderfoot pins to Walter Kochanski, Francis Lavigne, Michael Morin, Vincent Meczywor, Walter Bury, Joseph Wojcik, Bernard Radlowski and William Wronski. ADAMS -- A.3.C. Richard Wisniowski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wisniowski of 51 East Hoosac St., has begun advanced training at Truax Field, Wis., after a two-week leave at home. He is receiving training as a personnel specialist. Airman Wisniowski enlisted in the Air Force on Sept. 12 and had his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

NORTH ADAMS -- Justin Filiault was awarded the High Point trophy for five first-place finishes and one second place finish when the Betta team attended the Pioneer Valley Invitational swim meet at Smith College. Chad Filiault was also a first place winner and also has a fourth and fifth place finish. Kriste Kleiner got a second, fifth and sixth.
NORTH ADAMS -- The Northern Berkshire YMCA gymnastics team suffered a close loss to the Greenfield YMCA. Susan King has a strong showing with a first on vault, fourth on bars and beam, fifth on the floor and fifth overall. Others with a strong showing were Heather Lewis, Rebecca Finney, October Owczarski, Teri Iacuessa, Michele Lloyd, Emily Windover, Amy Witherell, Arleigh Giroux and Allison Dupuis.

CHESHIRE -- The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund has announced that it has awarded a local student college tuition assistance. Eric Douglas, a member of the Class of 2004 at St. Michael’s College and a member of the Taconic Golf Club, has been chosen as a Ouimet Scholar this year. Candidates for the scholarship must have completed two years of "service to golf" at a Massachusetts golf course as a caddie, pro shop worker or course superintendent.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Twelve students at Mount Greylock Regional High School have qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP exams, with grades of three or higher. They are Colleen Gerrity, Nathan Herr, Tessa Kelly, Emma Kibler, Andrew Mackin, Emily Mastellone-Snyder, Sean McHugh, Sarah Noyes, Keegan O’Brien, Chloe Paisley, Christopher Parkinson and En-Ming Wu.
