READSBORO, Vt. -- Donald Sprague, eight-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sprague of North Hill was one of 18 winners in the annual art contest sponsored by the New England Electric System for children of employees of this company. The company has sponsored this contest at Christmas for six years for young artists between the ages of 3-8. STAMFORD, Vt. -- The Sportsmen’s Club met Monday night at the club property and elected officers for the coming year. Elected were: president, Douglas Rice; vice president, Philip Malinowski; and secretary-treasurer, Edward Nichols.

NORTH ADAMS -- Three goals by Rob Stack and three assists by John Barbuto contributed to the Williamstown Savings Bank Canadiens’ 6-2 Pee Wee Division win over the Petricca Construction Kings in Northern Berkshire Youth Hockey Association. Chad Jzyk added a goal and an assist, and Chad Anderson and Jason Civello each scored once for the winners. Warren Winarski and Aaron Chick had the goals for the Kings.
NORTH ADAMS -- In the Northern Berkshire Youth Hockey Association Squirt Division, the GE Employee Credit Union Flames and the C.&S. Construction Whalers played to a 3-3 tie. Stuart Grande scored twice and Trevor Bayliss once for the Flames. Jarrett Bayliss scored two goals for the Whalers and assisted on a goal by Matt Hyde.

NORTH ADAMS -- The Drury girls’ basketball team won their opener against St. Joseph’s, 71-34. The Blue Devil’s were led by Michelle Boudreau’s 20 points, followed by Bethany Lorge with 14 and Lisa Cunningham with 13 points. Breanne Cote led St. Joseph’s with 10 points.
STAMFORD, Vt. -- The Stamford boys’ basketball team beat Readsboro recently, 66-30. Wes Pecor led Stamford with 18 points, followed by Steve Senecal with 14 and Tom Primmer with 13 points. For Readsboro, Vinnie Femenella led the way with seven points. Eric Rogers, Curt Berard, Drew Boudreau and Josh Gottardi all had four points.
