ASHLAND -- The Mount Greylock boys' basketball team poured in 20 points in the opening eight minutes, but scored just 31 the rest of the way in a 61-51 loss to Ashland at the Clockers' own tournament on Thursday night.

Greylock and Ashland were tied, 41-41, after the third quarter, but the Mounties' Tyler Picard soon fouled out and they had no answer for Shane Pasquantonio. The 6-foot-5 center scored 12 of his game-high 29 points in the final frame to fuel Ashland's 20-point quarter and the win.

"We're here to compete and get better," coach Bob Thistle said. "We came out on the wrong side [Thursday night], but we're going to go right back at it [today] in a very tough tournament."

The Mounties play Weyland in the 3 p.m. consolation tournament.

Picard finished with 12 points, while Tyrell Thomas had a team-high 14 and Brett McCormack pitched in with 10.
