NORTH ADAMS -- Two 17-year-old North Adams boys have begun their basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C., and are scheduled to go to Hawaii upon completion. They are Richard Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alden Jones of 57 D St., and Raymond Galli, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lino Galli of 42 Spring St. Both boys signed up for four years. NORTH ADAMS -- Three school committeemen last night were reelected without opposition to their present school committee posts. Committeeman Thomas Cullen was again named vice chairman of the committee. Elizabeth Bacon was reelected secretary and Edward Nassif was chosen as the committee’s representative to the McCann Vocational School Committee.

NORTH ADAMS -- The Northern Berkshire YMCA Bettas of the United States Swim Team came away with a first place trophy in their category in a recent meet in Exeter, N.H. The Bettas, who had five team members, won the Limited Class High Point trophy for team with 15 swimmers or less. Members of the team are Jen Rosen, Justin Filiault, Jay Rosen, Chad Filiault and Kriste Kleiner.

NORTH ADAMS -- The Northern Berkshire Pee Wees beat Schenectady 12-1 in Tri-State travel team hockey action. Matt Trottier, Ian MacArthur, Rob Stack, John Barbuto and Aaron Chick provided two goals apiece, while Rick Simpson and Warren Winarski each scored once. Winning goalie Matt Witek made

NORTH ADAMS -- In North Adams YMCA Basketball action recently, Clarksburg VFW beat Nassif’s Pharmacy, 38-10. Megan Boyer and Fallon Preite had eight points each for Clarksburg. Jessica Dunn and Stephanie Mirante added six points each. For Nassif, Brittany Burdick and Teal Miner had four points each, while Meghan Boucher chipped in with two.

NORTH ADAMS -- In North Adams YMCA Basketball action recently, North Adams VFW beat CPDC, 28-27. Erica Cahoon led the way for VFW with 10 points, including two three-pointers, while Heather Malloy added six points and Courtney Del Ratez four. Lindsay Lincoln had a game-high six points for CPDC, including three three-pointers. Courtney Andrews added eight and Ashley Lincoln three.
