NORTH ADAMS -- The McCann Tech girls' team grabbed its first in-league victory Tuesday night, 46-32 over Holyoke Catholic.
Mary Nguyen, in a dominating performance, nearly out scored the entire Holyoke Catholic roster. She scored 27 points to lead the Hornets in to the win.
"We solved their zone and we played good defense tonight," said McCann coach Mike Dowling. "This is a big win. It was a league game, and we're 1-1 in the league now."
Eileen Zajac added nine points for the Hornets. Kyra Robbins led Holyoke Catholic with eight points.
Greylock girls' basketball
PITTSFIELD -- Kendall Smith scored 20 points and Keegan McCauley added 10 to pace the St. Joseph's girls' basketball team past Mount Greylock, 50-33.
"We were up four at halftime, but we came out and outscored Greylock 18-7," said Crusaders coach Jack Quinn. "We used balanced scoring and good defense."
Lucy Barrett had 15 for the Mounties. She hit two 3-pointers on the night.
McCann boys' basketball
LENOX -- Bill Patella's two free throws snapped a 50-50 tie to give Lenox a tough win over the visiting Hornets, 52-50.
"Coach [Mike] Nykorchuk is doing an outstanding job with McCann," said Lenox coach Scott Sibley. "They dictated the tempo for most of the game and they played great defense. We had a small edge in the third quarter and that turned out to be the difference."
Chad Raimer led the Hornets with 12.
