ADAMS -- In an effort to build momentum leading up to the Thunderbolt Ski Race, the town has expanded the hours of the Adams Visitors Center to allow for greater access to the new Thunderbolt Ski Museum.
The museum is currently open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., during operating hours for the building. Due to growing demand and anticipation leading up to this year’s race, those hours will be expanded to include Friday evening and weekends. These new winter hours will continue through to the weekend of the annual race on Feb. 9:
Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The museum debuted in October, 2012 and provides a history of the famed Thunderbolt Ski Trail and its story. A combination of detailed narratives, visuals and unique historical memorabilia were combined to complete the exhibit. The effort was spearheaded by members of the Thunderbolt Ski Runners, who worked closely with the Adams Historical Society, the town, the William J. and Margery S. Barrett Fund for Adams and several other stakeholders.
The annual Thunderbolt Ski Race and Thunderfest downtown celebration are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9.
