ADAMS -- The developers of the Mausert Block want to see whether they can teach the Historical Commission a thing or two.
A presentation on the building has been scheduled to take place at the commission's next meeting on Feb. 20 at Town Hall, open to the public and tentatively planned for 4 p.m.
In a recent email to the Transcript, Stephen Stenson, one of the building developers, said some Mausert research has been done, and he thought the Historical Commission would be a good forum to present the findings.
"Don't want give too much away, but we'll be showing the events from 1900 through to the 1980's, including ... who built [the Mausert Block] and who tried to destroy it in addition to details on some of the people involved in its history," Stenson wrote.
Eugene Michalenko of the Historical Commission said the Mausert family goes way back in Adams.
"I've never been able to find any descendants of the Mausert family, but there's a Mauserts Pond in Clarksburg, an old Mausert's bottling company and some other places where the name comes up," he said. " ... We're wondering if [Stenson] found a connection."
The information from the presentation will then be posted on the building's website at www.mausert.com.
Stenson and his wife, Holly, are developing the circa 1890s block building with their real estate and property management company, RedPM.

News about the project's progress and the coming openings of four new businesses to be located there -- eateries, a real estate office and a performing arts school -- is also soon forthcoming, Stenson said.
"We also have a busy schedule next month with presentations to the Selectmen about [part of the building that faces] the trail, presentations on the four new businesses for the special permits and hopefully the final site plan approval," he said.
