CHESHIRE -- Heavy fog contributed to a three-car accident that sent four people to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield for non-life threatening injuries Wednesday night.

Shortly after 8 p.m., the driver of a Toyota Yaris traveling east on Lanesborough Road in Cheshire failed to see the stop sign before Route 8, Cheshire Police Chief Tim Garner said, running the intersection and striking a northbound Nissan pickup truck. The impact caused the Nissan to spin around into a private driveway, where it struck a parked Honda Ridgeline. The names of the individuals involved in the crash were not available as of press time.

Four passengers in the Toyota Yaris were transported to Berkshire Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Nissan was uninjured, and the parked Honda was unoccupied.

Garner said charges are pending for the driver of the Yaris.

Both the Nissan and Toyota were towed from the scene, Garner said, and were possibly totaled.

County Ambulance, Action Ambulance and Adams Ambulance all responded to the scene, Garner said.

Traffic was detoured because of the accident. Lanesborough Police and the State Police assisted with detail and traffic.
