NORTH ADAMS -- Mary Ellen Bergeron, daughter of Mary Bergeron of 230 Furnace St., a senior at St. Joseph's High School, is the winner of the Voice of Democracy contest sponsored by the Dr. George L. Curran Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars. She received a $25 savings bond. ADAMS -- Ten Adams Cub Scouts were awarded the Parvuli Dei medals during Boy Scout Week ceremonies yesterday. They are Dennis St. John, Robert Brown, Vincent Gagnon, Patrick Wiater, Thomas Socha, Thomas Ryczek, Michael Dudziak, Thomas Uryniak, Peter Dudek and Michael Kurpiel.

NORTH ADAMS -- Army Private Thomas Bradley, son of William Bradley of 388 Union St. and Candace Bradley of 28 Morningside Ave., Adams, has completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. During the training, students received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, first aid, and Army history and traditions.

NORTH ADAMS -- Chick Maroni, daughter of Maurice Maroni of 23 Brooklyn St., was officially admitted to the Massachusetts Bar at Faneuil Hall ceremonies in December, 1987. She was employed for 10 years by the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children's Boston office, specializing in work with inner city families.

the town of Florida has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at the University of Vermont in Burlington. She is a sophomore majoring in chemistry. To be named to the dean's list, students must have a grade-point average of 3 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class.

ADAMS -- Dan Hogan of the Adams-Cheshire Regional School Committee received a "lifetime achievement" award from the Massachusetts Association of School Committees. He was presented the honor at a joint conference of state school committees and the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents held in Worcester.
