ADAMS -- An Adams man took part last week in Exercise Saddle Blanket, conducted by the Navy off the Southern California coast. He is Robert Groves, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Lescarbeau of 137 Commercial St. Groves is chief boilerman aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Constellation. The exercise deals mainly with anti-submarine warfare training. ADAMS -- Walter Wnuk, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wnuk of East Hoosac Street, is cruising the Red Sea aboard the destroyer USS Fred T. Berry. He is an electrician’s mate fireman and will be in the Middle East for eight weeks. Seaman Wnuk enlisted in October, 1960.

NORTH ADAMS -- Marine Lance Cpl. Thomas Cook, son of Barbara Rennell of 21 Estes St., was recently awarded the U.S. Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal. He received the award for good behavior and conduct over a three-year period in the Marine Corps. He is currently serving at Marine Corps Air Station in Cherry Point, N.C.
NORTH ADAMS -- Chad Walker’s 45 points helped Nassif’s to an 82-44 win over Englander in Northern Berkshire YMCA Youth Basketball League action.
Jonathan Griffin added 14 points for Nassif’s.
Bryce George led Englander in scoring with 19 points, followed by Dan Smachetti with 11 points.

NORTH ADAMS -- The Board of Trustees of
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Mount Greylock’s Jen Barranger won the annual Coaches Invitational ski race Wednesday night at the Bousquet Ski Area. Teammate Mary Cella finished sixth. In the boys’ race, the lone North County finisher in the top 10 was Greylock’s Colin Walsh. He finished 10th.
