SAVOY -- Explore Savoy State Forest with naturalist Aimee Gelinas, director of Tamarack Hollow Nature and Cultural Center in Windsor, on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Visit one of the highest elevation towns in Massachusetts in winter on snowshoes and enjoy the fresh snow dropped by the recent storm. Trek on the North Pond Loop trail past sizeable glacier erratics and views of the pond while learning about winter ecology and tracks.
Participants should wear warm, layered clothing, sturdy, waterproof boots, nylon pants and gaitors for snow. Discounted snowshoe rentals are available from the Berkshire Eastern Mountain Sports store in Lanesborough.
