NORTH ADAMS -- Playing its first game since their leading scorer was suspended indefinitely by the school, the McCann Tech girls’ basketball team struggled to find offense in a 48-26 loss to Cathedral on Monday night.
Six different Hornets found the scoresheet, but Mary Nguyen’s double-digit scoring was noticeably absent. Kelly Dobbert led the way with six points (two 3-pointers) and Alex Wood and Emijah Barton each had five.
"We kind of filled the void," coach Mike Dowling said. "We moved the ball, had 6 people score. We were working on just passing, moving the ball."
McCann had difficulty trying to keep pace with Cathedral’s high-speed offense.
"They must have had 30-plus points in layups," Dowling said. "Just beating us down the court. Running, running, running."
With the other team’s in the Bi-County West losing, the Hornets clinched the division title.
