NORTH ADAMS -- In compliance with the guidelines set forth by the state Department of Revenue, the North Adams Assessor's Office is beginning its inspection program of all properties in the city in order to collect and maintain an accurate property inventory on which property tax assessments, in part, are based.
This process includes both an interior inspection and exterior measurement. Over the next several weeks, an employee of the Mayflower Valuation Company, representing the City of North Adams, will be visiting properties to perform these inspections.
Completion of this process will eliminate the need to estimate information on which assessments are based, and assist in the implementation of fair and equitable assessments, as required by state law.
