I just want to thank everyone who has donated items, money, time, cards and prayers to my project, "Boxes of Love."
Boxes of Love started in November, 2012, when my son, stationed in Afghanistan, told me to hold off on sending him care packages and send some to his buddies who don't receive anything.
That broke my heart. I couldn't bare the thought that any of our soldiers wouldn't get the small joy of opening an unexpected package. I needed to do something. Boxes of Love was born.
Since early November, I have sent 102 Boxes of Love. Thanks to all those who have supported me and our troops.
I would love to thank [Transcript City Editor] Maggy Button who in early December wrote about Boxes of Love in her column and got the word out. It spread like wild fire.
Thank you to Drury High School's Molly Meczywor, whose AP English class brainstormed ideas and held a fundraising dinner at Desperado's on Feb. 13 and collected over 300 items the week of Feb. 11-15. Thank you, Desperado's and Dave Atwell, for allowing such a wonderful event to occur. The dining area was filled.
Thank you, also, Stamford Elementary School, Zumba in the Berkshires, Planet Fitness, Nassif's, and the North Adams Post Office for allowing me to place donation boxes in their facilities. Thank you to friends and family who have helped me pack boxes, and will continue to pack boxes until the donations stop coming forth, and thank you to
May God Bless you. God Bless our troops and pray for their safe journeys back home.
