NORTH ADAMS -- Hoosac Harvest will host the third 'Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food' event on Thursday, March 7, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the All Saints Church, Summer Street (next to the post office).

Discover the bounty and meet the farmers and small food producers of the northern Berkshires at this free event. Learn about Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), enjoy free samples and light refreshments, and swap seeds with friends and neighbors for the upcoming growing season.

Farmers include Wildstone Farm, Cricket Creek Farm, Country Dream Farm, Many Forks Farm. Also participating are Wild Oats Market, North Adams Farmers Market and more.

For the second year, Hoosac Harvest is hosting a seed swap. Bring in vegetable or flower seeds to swap or grab a few seeds to start your own garden during the event.

There's a growing movement across all parts of our community of people who want eat local food and support local farmers. "There are many ways that people can access local food," states Thomas, "from double SNAP Benefits at the North Adams Farmers Market, to participating in Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), to building relationships with the people who work hard to provide our community with fresh vegetables, meat, dairy, eggs, honey, fruit and more."

Farmers provide fresh produce for our local food pantries, restaurants and markets.
