STAMFORD, VT. -- Dalton Tatro, a fifth-grade student at Stamford Elementary School, has qualified to represent the school and participate at the state level of the National Geographic Bee, sponsored by Google and Plum Creek.
Tatro qualified by passing a second test and receiving a score that made him eligible to reach the finals.
The state bee will be held on Friday, April 5, at Middlebury College in Vermont.
Dalton certainly deserves this award, School Principal Gregory Betti said in the news release announcing Dalton s qualification. He won the first round at the school and has been anxiously awaiting the test results.
I was thrilled to tell him the good news, and I know that he will proudly represent the Stamford Elementary School in Middlebury.
One winner from each state will advance to the national competition, which will be held on May 20 to 22, in Washington, D.C.
Transportation and accommodations for the Washington trip are provided for each state winner and a teacher escort from the school.
