NORTH ADAMS -- The following cases were heard in Northern Berkshire District Court on Monday:
* James D. Witton, 32, of Church Street in Cheshire, was arraigned on a charge of assault and battery. A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for May 6.
* Michael J. Miller, 34, of Mill Street in Williamstown, was arraigned on charges of assault and battery on someone over 60/disabled with an injury and malicious destruction of property over $250. A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for March 20.
* Christopher J. Gagne, 38, of Union Street in Bennington, Vt., was arraigned on a charge of being a fugitive from justice on a court warrant. Gagne faces charges in Vermont of unlawful restraint in the first degree, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and a felony while carrying a deadly weapon. The court ordered Gagne be held without bail in the Berkshire House of Corrections. A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for March 22.
* James D. Scott, 49, of Bracewell Avenue in North Adams, was arraigned on charges of violating an abuse-prevention order, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, breaking and entering for misdemeanor, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and assault. The court ordered Scott be held at the Berkshire House of
