NORTH ADAMS - A head-on collision between two cars sent one driver to the hospital and closed State Road near the Williamstown line for 45 minutes Wednesday night. The accident between a Honda Accord and a Toyota Tacoma occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m., in the vicinity of Mount Williams Greenhouses, according to police.
"The [Honda Accord] was heading east on Route 2 [State Road], and it appears from witnesses that it veered into the westbound lane, striking the other vehicle," said Sgt. James Foley of the North Adams Police Department.
The driver of the Honda Accord was transported to Berkshire Medical Center following the accident, Foley said.
North Adams Fire Department Lt. John Paciorek said the driver of the Toyota Tacoma was able to exit the vehicle alone. The driver of the Honda Accord needed to be extricated from the vehicle, he said.
The drivers' names, whether charges were pending, and the extent of the drivers' injuries were unavailable as of press time.
The North Adams Police Department, North Adams Fire Department and North Adams Ambulance Service responded to the scene, and Mohawk Auto provided wrecking service.
