ADAMS - U.S. Army Lt. Col. Frederick Lora, an Adams native, will deliver the address at the town's Memorial Day observance on Monday.
A 19-year Army veteran and career military intelligence officer, Lora served two combat tours of duty in Iraq and is presently the current Intelligence Operations branch chief in U.S. Army Cyber Command at Fort Belvoir, Va. He is a 1989 graduate of Hoosac Valley High School and graduated cum laude from Northeastern University.
Two students of the Hoosac Valley Middle and High School will also participate in the Memorial Day observance. Lincoln's "Gettysburg Address" will be delivered by Junior Tyler Carpenter, while eighth grader Kaylea Nocher will present "In Flanders Field."
he Memorial Day parade will step off at 10 a.m. from in front of the former Adams Memorial Middle School and will conclude with the traditional ceremony at the Maple Street Cemetery. The usual route will be followed: Columbia Street to Hoosac Street, Hoosac Street to Summer Street, Center Street to Park Street, concluding at the Maple Street Cemetery.
The American Legion Post 160 Honor Guard will participate. Music will be provided by the Hoosac Valley High School Band and the Berkshire Highlanders.
In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in the Adams Fire Station.
