POWNAL, Vt. -- Gregory Reynolds, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Reynolds of Church Street left from the Pittsfield Recruiting Center today for Great Lakes, Ill., where he will undergo six weeks' boot training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station. Young Reynolds has enlisted in the Navy for four years.
ADAMS -- Two provisional police appointments were made by the Selectmen last night on the recommendation of Police Chief Edward Reid. Those appointed for six months were Ronald Goss of 35 Commercial St. and Robert Clerc of 6 Glen St. Mr. Goss served as a patrolman last summer under a provisional appointment and Mr. Clerc has expressed interest in becoming a permanent patrolman.

CHESHIRE -- Troop 31 of Cheshire and Savoy held its annual banquet and court of honor recently at St. Mary's Hall. The following awards were given: Tenderfoot: Derek Beliveau, Richard Sawyer and Michael Haring; second class: Steven Facchetti, Steven Serre, Tim Herrmann and David Nelson; and first class: Marc Foucher.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- James MacArthur, son of David and Jean MacArthur of 33 May St., is assigned to Chanute Air Force Base, Ill., for specialized instruction in the aircrew life support field. Airman MacArthur completed the six weeks of basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special

ADAMS -- The Adams Police Athletic League (PAL) boys basketball champions are the American Legion team. Members of the team are Zackery Czubryt, Michael Robillard, Matt Babeu, Chad Bleil, Josh Wandrei, Jeremy Lefebvre, Ethan Aitken, Tyler Dabrowski, Walter Erdeski, Nick LeFebvre, Kirby Rowe and Jacob Simon Girard.
NORTH ADAMS -- Marine Pfc. Thomas Felten, son of Marcia Hornbeck of 1051 State Road, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., and was promoted to his present rank. Felten successfully completed 12 weeks of training designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.
