CHESHIRE - Victorious in 13 consecutive contests this past season against teams representing schools from Clarksburg, Florida, Cummington, Hinsdale, Lanesborough, Becket and Worthington, the undefeated Cheshire School boys' basketball team is regarded at Berkshire County's best for 1959. Members of the squad are Ronald Williamson, Edward Grover, Charles Roberson, Lawrence Witanek, John D'Elia, Charles Sukanek, Robert Morin, Peter Whitney, Daniel Alibozek, Philip Mayo, Thomas Baker, Edward Goolbis and Thomas Leitch.

NORTH ADAMS - George Fairs of 73 Kemp Ave., appointed recently to the city's Recreation Commission to fill out the unexpired term of Fuad Ameen, today was appointed to a full five-year term by City Manager Albert Fuller. The new term begins May 1.

NORTH ADAMS - Joan Nowak was elected president of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 996 at its meeting April 18. Other officers for 1984-85 were elected as follows: Paula Eastwood, senior vice president; Carol Busby, junior vice president; Patricia Straczek, treasurer; Ella Mae Landry, chaplain; Emaline Lescarbeau, conductress; Freda Coulter, guard; and trustees, Rose Derosia, Pauline LaBonte and Doris LaBonte.

NORTH ADAMS - The North Adams Lions Club met April 7 at the Holiday Inn Berkshire on Main Street. With 12 of the club's 17 members in attendance, officers elected for the 1999-2000 year were Paul Moriarty, president; Robin Martin, vice president; Bob Green, second vice president; Nini D'Arcangelo, treasurer; and Lisa Jarisch, secretary.

READSBORO, Vt. - Bob Dion of Readsboro finished seventh overall at Fred's Marathon, held in Worcester. Dion was first in the Master's 40-49 age group, covering the 26.2-mile course in 3 hours, 9 minutes and 17 seconds. Eric Moore of North Adams placed eighth overall with a time of 3:09.22. Both are qualifiers for the Boston Marathon.
