ADAMS -- Chief Petty Officer Joseph Wiejaczka, U.S. Naval Reserve, of 1 Potter St., has returned from Philadelphia, Pa., after receiving two weeks of extensive schooling at the navy shipyard there. CPO Wiejaczka enlisted in the Navy in 1939 and until his discharge in 1945 was stationed in the Pacific area. He has been a member of the reserve intermittently since his discharge.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Shawn Kirkpatrick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Kirkpatrick of North Hoosac Road, a member of the junior class of Williamstown High School, has been chosen as the outstanding boy of his class to attend Boys' State of the American Legion. Boys' State will be held at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst from June 19-27.

SAVOY -- David Belisle, 15, a sophomore at Hoosac Valley High School, received the highest award in scouting. Eagle Scout Belisle received his award from the Troop 31 Court of Honor after earning 12 skill awards and 29 merit badges. He has been a member of Troop 31 since 1979. He has earned the Scouting Spirit Award four times, earned the mile swim, world conservation, winter camping and Troop 31 outdoorsman awards in past years as a Boy Scout.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Airman James MacArthur, son of David and Jean MacArthur of 33 May St., left May 30 for Loring Air Force Base in Maine, after a leave of absence at his home here. Airman MacArthur completed

basic training and was graduated with honors from the U.S. Air Force aircrew life support course at Chanute Air Force Base, Ill.

NORTH ADAMS -- In a high scoring affair, Harrison Vending defeated Pep's Gym/Tatro Contracting, 31-25 in North Adams Men's Softball action. Jason Rabideau had four hits, two being home runs, for Vending. Ken Jones also had four hits, and Larry Andrews, Shaun Parker and Jay Lantz had three hits each. For Pep's, Nate Tatro had his best game ever, going 5-for-5 with two homers, including a grand slam. Eric Booth chipped in with four hits.

NORTH ADAMS -- In recent North Adams Little League action, Hoosac Bank powered past Police 14-5. Nick Morgan doubled twice and David Senecal had two hits, including a double to lead Hoosac. Zach Braman got the win on the mound. For Police, Jake Racette went 3-for-3 including a double, and Tristan Demarsico and Bobby Morgan each had two hits.
