NORTH ADAMS -- The Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of Northern Berkshire has scheduled additional seasonal flu vaccination clinics.
Seasonal flu vaccine helps to protect individuals against three identified strains of flu, including H1N1.
The seasonal flu clinics are open to individuals age 18 and older.
There is no charge for the vaccination but donations will be accepted to offset the cost of the clinic.
Clinics will be held:
Friday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon at Columbia Valley Apartments, Adams;
Monday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Joseph's Court, North Adams;
Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Barrett House Apartments, Adams, and from 2 to 4 p.m. at the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire, Curran Highway, North Adams;
Thursday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Adams Council on Aging;
Monday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Harper Center, Williamstown.
An annual seasonal flu shot is recommended for anyone over the age of 65 or who has a chronic illness, and for those who wish to reduce the risk of contracting the flu this winter. Although much attention has focused on H1N1, it is just as important to be vaccinated against seasonal flu, which is responsible for thousands of deaths each year.
