NORTH ADAMS -- The office of the city clerk at City Hall, 10 Main St., will be open Friday, Aug. 17, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (previous release had 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.), for the last day to register to vote or make changes to the voter’s lists to be used at the state primary election on Thursday, Sept. 6.
To be eligible to vote, a person must be 18 years of age or older on or before Election Day, a citizen of the United States and a resident of North Adams.
Absentee ballots are now available at the city clerk’s office for the Thursday, Sept. 6, state primary election. Residents may vote absentee if they will be absent on Election Day, have a physical disability that prevents them from going to the polls or because of a religious belief.
Absentee ballot requests may be made in writing no later than Wednesday, Sept. 5, at noon. It is important to make this request as soon as possible, as the ballots must be mailed. Residents may also appear in person to vote absentee in the office.
