BENNINGTON, Vt. -- It’s that time of year again -- the weather is getting colder, the days are getting shorter, and the threat of the flu hangs in the air.
Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) is offering community flu vaccination clinics on Wednesdays, Oct. 17, 24, and 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Second Congregational Church on Hillside Street.
These are walk-in clinics; no appointment is necessary. They are for adults 18 and older. The fee is $35.
Medicare Part B or cash or checks only, no other insurance accepted. Those eligible for Medicare Part B should bring their insurance card. For more information, call the SVMC Flu Hotline at 802-447-5559.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending the flu vaccine for everyone six months and older. Getting vaccinated is especially important for those at higher risk for serious flu-related complications or those who live with or care for those at high risk. They include: pregnant women; people 65 years of age and older; people with certain chronic medical conditions; and people with a body mass index (BMI) above 39. It is also recommended that those who care for or come in contact with high-risk individuals be vaccinated. They include health care workers; family members and household contacts; and family members and caregivers for children younger than six months.
