BENNINGTON, Vt. -- The North Bennington Winter Festival will be held Saturday, Jan. 26.
The Penguin Plunge for Special Olympics at Lake Paran Boat Launch -- check-in begins at 9 a.m.; costume contest at 10:30 a.m., plunge at 11 a.m.
From 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be an After-Plunge Party at the Vermont Arts Exchange. Taste over 20 different chilies, sponsored by the NorShaft Lions Club; a cash bar, and live music and ice cream sandwiches, sponsored by the Bennington Coalition for the Homeless. There will be chair massages and art activities as well.
The ice-carving competition at the North Bennington Train Station starts on Friday, with the bulk of the sculpting happening on Saturday. Prizes will be awarded at 3:30 p.m. There will also be a Winter Market Place at the Train Station.
The annual Indoor Winter Carnival at the North Bennington Graded School is a fun spot for children. Also check out the McCullough Library for its special program.
There will be Wagon Rides from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to take people around the village to all the event venues.
The day concludes with the annual pet fashion show, which starts at Whitman’s Feed Store at 4 p.m.
