WILLIAMSTOWN -- Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation (BTCF) announced that Sept. 30 is the deadline for the Sweet Brook Scholarship, which is awarded to provide career development to Sweet Brook Care Center staff members who plan to further their education in the field of health care.
Eligible applicants must be employees in good standing with the Sweet Brook Transitional Care and Living Centers in Williamstown, and planning to attend an accredited school to further their education in a field of health care that will have a direct impact on their work at Sweet Brook.
Scholarships of up to $2,500 will be awarded for books, tuition, equipment and general education expenses. Applications are available by contacting Sharron Moresi at the Sweet Brook Care Center Human Resources Department at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Completed application forms are due at 5 p.m. on Sept. 30 at the Berkshire Taconic office, and must be signed by the director of human resources at the Sweet Brook Center.
The program began in 1972, when the residents of Sweet Brook voted to give a nurse’s aide $100 from the money they had collected from selling hand-made craft items. The grant provided text books needed to allow the aide to continue in her LPN program. Every year thereafter, scholarships were given to staff members to pursue careers in health care. Residents raised money through their annual craft fair and families donated funds in memory of loved ones.
The Sweet Brook Scholarship Fund was established at Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation in 1997. BTCF invests and manages the Fund’s endowment and handles all grantmaking administrative, financial and legal requirements.
