WILLIAMSTOWN -- Williams College Theatre Department is will present a site-specific staging of Maria Irene Fornes’ "Fefu and Her Friends," directed by Robert Baker-White.
The performances are on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 4:30 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 6, at 1and 4:30 p.m., in the Oakley Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, 90 Denison Park Drive.
Premiering in 1977, the play by the Cuban-born playwright explores "the exhilarating, constant pain of women defining their roles in the ‘logical world of men. ‘"
Eight women gather in a New England country home. What transpires defies expectations, social norms, and even, perhaps, laws of physics and physiology. The Theatre Department’s site-specific presentation at the Oakley Center includes everything from root vegetables and water fights to guns and sacrifice.
