Thursday February 4, 2010 The Berkshire Regional Planning Commission was right to admonish Minuteman Wind LLC, developer of five proposed turbines on West Hill in Savoy, for submitting shoddy and incomplete plans for the project to state environmental officials (Transcript story, Feb. 2). As reported in the Boston Globe on Tuesday, the Massachusetts House will vote today on a bill that would require drivers over 75 years old to take a vision test and to appear in person in order to renew their driver’s licenses. Hallelujah. The same bill would ban text messaging for all drivers and forbid drivers under age 18 from using cell phones when driving.   Full Story
 
North Berkshire has a fine tradition of high school sports programs at Drury, Hoosac Valley, Mount Greylock and McCann -- and for just about every organized sport, both boys’ and girls’. North Berkshire should be very glad to see Berkshire Anodizing LLC take over the bankrupt Modern Aluminum Anodizing company and keep the Hodges Cross Road plant in North Adams open, saving about 40 light-manufacturing jobs (Transcript stories Monday and Tuesday).
