The town tried its hand at another themed celebration paired with a staple event over the weekend, and by all indications, the first-ever Ramblefest was a rousing success, as was the unveiling of the new Thunderbolt Ski Museum.
Built as a compliment to Monday’s perennial Mount Greylock Ramble, the Sunday festival featured a variety of food vendors, games for the kids, local beer, live music, a bonfire, a live cooking demonstration and purveyors of outdoor gear.
In the spirit of Thunderfest, the satellite to the Thunderbolt Ski Runners’ annual race on Mount Greylock, Ramblefest was another opportunity for area residents and visitors alike to come together as a whole family and enjoy the town in a new fashion. Also crucial to the success of the event was the abundance of fun for adults as well, making it into more than just a family event and one that could attract visitors of all ages from all walks of life.
A congratulations goes to all parties involved in getting this promising event off the ground, from town officials and Pro Adams members to volunteers and vendors. The community itself deserves recognition for helping with a strong turnout, estimated at 1,000 to 1,500 people. We sincerely hope to see this event, as well as its cousin, Thunderfest, become an annual affair.

From the beginnings of Blair Mahar’s documentary, "Purple Mountain Majesty," to the Herculean efforts of the Thunderbolt Ski Runners in organizing their annual race, to this new museum, this community is making great strides in recognizing the rich Thunderbolt heritage that is a waiting boon for the town to embrace and promote.
