BRATTLEBORO -- Dancers will have an opportunity to study with Senegalese dancer-choreographer Caro Diallo.
Diallo, lead dancer of the dance troupe Black Soofa, will teach West African dance classes at the Stone Church, 210 Main St., on Wednesdays at 7 p.m., on July 31, Aug. 7, 14, 21, 28 and Sept. 4, and Fridays at 7 p.m., on Aug. 2, 9, 16, 30 and Sept. 6, at the Putney Community Center in Putney.
Drummer Namory Keita of Guinea, West Africa, will continue to hold 6 p.m., Wednesday drum classes at Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main St., throughout the summer. All are welcome, and djembe drums will be provided.
Diallo and Keita will perform and teach classes as part of the ninth annual Abene African Dance and Drum Festival, Aug. 23-25, sponsored by African Dance Vermont and the Arts Council of Windham County.
