Images hosts Video Goosechase

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Images Cinema will present the sixth annual 24-Hour Goosechase and Free-For-All on Saturday, May 10 through Sunday, May 11. This free event is an opportunity for video-makers of all levels of experience to shoot, edit, and screen a video all within 24 hours.

Individuals or groups interested in participating must attend the registration meeting on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Images Cinema, 50 Spring St., Williamstown, to receive secret clues to be included in their videos.

Twenty-four hours later all participants will reconvene at Images with their completed videos of five minutes or less. The public screening will start at 1pm. Trophies will be awarded based on a panel of judges and audience vote. All ages and level of experience are encouraged to participate.

Participants must provide their own equipment. Public access TV stations are a good source for borrowing equipment. Call 413-458-1039.

from Oct. to Sept., 2009.

Artists proposing a work for public display are encouraged to visit the City of Pittsfield before submitting their proposal. Applicants must take into account that the site is an urban outdoor environment.

Sculptures and installations must meet safety requirements and be able to withstand the effects of weather and public use. Outdoor sculptures juried into the exhibition are placed in downtown Pittsfield for a period of one year, and are available for purchase while on display.

Selected artists receive an honorarium of $1,000. One or more proposals for new and/or site specific work may receive, as determined in the review process, a $2,500 honorarium. Submissions should include the artist's resume and artistic statement, as well as images of the artwork, dimensions and materials. Artwork will be on exhibit for a period of one year.

Deadline for receipt of proposals is June 13 for jury consideration for October installation. Full guidelines and an application form are available online at www.culturalpittsfield.com, by calling 413-499-9348, or emailing mwhilden@pittsfield ch.com.
