WILLIAMSTOWN -- A New York man was injured after the box truck he was driving hit a utility pole on North Street (Route 7) early Saturday morning.
Kahlil Barnes, 25, of Albany, N.Y., was taken by ambulance to North Adams Regional Hospital with back and leg injuries following the accident, according to police. An update on his condition wasn't available as of press time Sunday night.
Williamstown Police said Sunday that Barnes was driving north on North Street when he said he swerved to avoid a deer. He then hit a utility pole on the east side of the road, police said. The pole was damaged, but electricity wasn't lost. The truck Barnes was driving was owned by a company contracted by Dunkin Donuts.
Besides police, the Wil liamstown Fire District and Village Ambulance Service responded to the accident, which was reported at 3:04 a.m.
