NORTHAMPTON -- A Pittsfield woman and an Albany, N.Y., man were arraigned in Northampton District Court today on crack trafficking charges.
The pair was arrested Thursday after members of Berkshire County Drug Task Force (BCDTF) say they found $8,440, or 84 grams, of crack-cocaine inside the vehicle they'd been driving.
Stephanie Carsno, 28, of Pittsfield and Shawn Davis, 27, of Albany, N.Y., are each charged with single counts trafficking in cocaine and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act.
Bail was set at $1,000 and $2,000, respectively, and neither Carsno nor Davis had been released as of Friday afternoon. They are being held at Hampshire County Jail in Northampton.
According to reports, the arrests resulted from a joint BCDTF-Springfield Police Department Narcotics Unit investigation "into the trafficking of crack-cocaine from Springfield into Berkshire County and the distribution of crack-cocaine in Berkshire County."
Investigating officers stopped Carsno and Davis while traveling through Cummington on Route 9 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
