NORTH ADAMS -- A two-car accident on Curran Highway (Route 8) near the Adams town line Thursday sent three people to the hospital and closed the road to northbound traffic for about half an hour.
According to police logs, dispatcher Maryann King received multiple calls reporting a motor vehicle accident near the entrance to the Hardman Industrial Park at 1:14 p.m.
Two cars were towed from the scene: A Chrysler minivan owned and operated by David Lesure, 40, of Valley Street in Adams, and a Toyota Corolla owned and operated by Jerrod Collins-Andrews, 22, of East Main Street in North Adams. Cariddi Auto and Mohawk Auto were brought in to remove them.
Sgt. James Burdick said extraction tools were used to open one vehicle's doors.
The North Adams Fire and Police departments, along with North Adams Ambulance Service, responded to the scene. Adams police assisted in detouring northbound traffic from Route 8 onto Lime Street and East Road.
Burdick said the accident was still under investigation and charges are pending. No further information was available as of press time.
