Lanesborough, one of the first towns in Berkshire County to be settled, is a community of sharp contrasts today — home of the Berkshire Mall, the town's largest employer, but still a largely rural area of sweeping mountain and lake vistas. To the west lies Potter Mountain, part of the Taconic Range, and to the east, the Hoosac Range, with Mount Greylock towering over the northern landscape and Pontoosuc Lake to the south.   Full Story

Much of the Mount Greylock State Reservation lies within Lanesborough, with Rockwell Road providing access to the Greylock Visitors Center and then the summit area, which is in Adams. Lanesborough's historic sites include the OId Stone School, a one-room schoolhouse built in 1832 and operated until spring 1950. It is now a photography gallery and guest house. The Old Stone Church, on Route 7, is on the National Register of Historic Places.   Full Story
