NORTH ADAMS -- Robert Keating, gunner’s mate third class, U.S. Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Keating of 315 State Road, took part in the recent Maritime Festival in Vancouver, B.C., in Canada. He is serving aboard the USS Gregory, a Pacific Fleet unit which made a goodwill visit to the British Columbia port. He received training in electronics at the Brooklyn Navy Yard before he was assigned to ship duty. ADAMS -- Robert Freitag, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Freitag of 4 West Pine St., has been promoted from Private, first class, to lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in November, 1961 and has recruit training a Parris Island, S.C., and advanced training at Camp Lejeune, N.C. He was assigned to the USS Galveston Marine detachment last August and has been operating with the Pacific fleet on the West Coast since.

NORTH ADAMS -- Kelly Mulcahy, daughter of Peter and Judith Mulcahy of 505 East Main St., earned a juris doctor degree June 12 from Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburg, Pa. During the last five summers, she worked in various offices with the Berkshire County District Attorneys office. She expects to take the New York Bar examination this month and plans to practice criminal law.
NORTH ADAMS -- The Transcript recently hired Gary Crews of Clarksburg to fill the position of Advertising Representative. He said he will be selling ads to businesses along the Main Street in North Adams. He was previously the general manager of Central Radio Electric Appliance and Furniture Center in North Adams.

NORTH ADAMS -- The Berkshire Ajax Under-18 girls’ soccer team made it to the semifinals of the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions. Members of the team are Mary Lyon, Caitlin Cronin, Alice Sedgwick, Kristen Holmgren, Erin Millard, Jenna O’Malley, Amanda Bleau, Katie Morrissey, Allison Wiencek, Naima Brown, Lauren Quinn, Erin Boyer, Kasha Stevenson, Carrie Holland, Rachel Finan, Ashley Smith, Raina Fergus, Stephanie LeBourdais, Sara Miller and Nicole Kasuba.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Williamstown Youth Center Track Program brought home medals at the Junior Olympics at Averil Park, N.Y. on June 21. Those taking home medals were Frederick DeVeaux, Katherine Wadsworth, Ryan Wadsworth, Alexandra DeVeaux, Lindsey Bell, Jack Lemme, Katherine Dudziack, Patrick Joslin and Kayleen Lemme.
