Letters to the Editor

Monday May 20, 2013 A review of 12,000 papers on climate change, in the May 15 issue of "Environmental Research Letters," found that 97 percent of scientists attribute climate change to human activities. Although we're unlikely to reverse climate change, we can mitigate its effects by reducing our driving, energy use and meat consumption.   Full Story

Thursday May 16, 2013 The whole Benghazi ordeal taking place in Congress (Republicans out for blood) is an hysterical comedy without a punch line. This red herring is far worse then any Shakespearean tragedy, but instead resembles the comedy, "Much Ado About Nothing." We’re waiting for the punch line, it’s just not happening.   Full Story

Wednesday May 15, 2013 So how is it that the Jodi Arias murder case gets so much news coverage but not that of late-term abortionist, Kermit Gosnell? The answer is simple: media bias. Mainstream media knows that the Gosnell case poorly reflects on the abortion industry, so they had been keeping it tight-lipped because abortion is a tenet of "faith" for the media.   Full Story

Wednesday May 15, 2013 I recently moved to North Adams. It's a wonderful livable city that grows on you. It has extraordinary people, architecture and outstanding vistas that attest to its industrial past and growing present. But there's a blight here that needs to be addressed: The noise and self-indulgent operation of some motorcycles are out of control.   Full Story

Friday May 10, 2013 Perhaps the simplest solution to the tangled problem of housing for elderly and lower income residents of Williamstown is to preserve The Spruces as a community. The location is favorable for access to transportation, shopping and other needed services, with ample space   Full Story

Monday May 6, 2013 Remember when the Clark Art Institute wanted to go to South Williamstown near the high school? I thought that was great. What a setting: looking over Mount Hope farm at Mount Greylock and being there with the Clark to boot. I could picture all us old-timers sitting on park benches enjoying the surroundings.   Full Story

Friday May 3, 2013 "Signs, signs, everywhere signs ... " The Five Man Electric Band wrote that song long before my time, but it is the truth in Adams. Monday is the annual town election and I have seen signs on lawns and in windows, as well as the candidates themselves holding those signs. But there is one person you won’t see signs for and that is moderator candidate Ed   Full Story
