When you love animals, you hate to see them abused or miserable. So when the circus comes to town, it is upsetting. These are animals, meant to be wild and free, who are harshly trained to do silly, unnatural tricks, who travel in close confinement through all kinds of weather and who are enslaved for their whole performing lives.
The annual Dalton circus event is made all the more upsetting by the fact that it is sponsored by an otherwise wonderful organization, the Dalton Lions Club, which does good works. To make money from animal cruelty is inexcusable and does great harm to their image. Also, the people and businesses who post circus signs and donate for low-cost children’s tickets are equally guilty of supporting animal cruelty. Ask them not to.
You love animals. Don’t go to the circus!
