The gun control issue has become a big issue in America again since the Sandy Hook murders.

Mr. Decker states [Transcript, Dec. 24] that banning an implement, tool or inanimate object will accomplish nothing and it’s a behavioral problem -- in other words, the guns are not the problem with all these tragic deaths in schools and elsewhere.

He states that I got my facts wrong when I stated [Transcript, Dec. 22-23] that the weapons the killer had in the Sandy Hook murders had legal permits and were sold legally. He states that the killer stole them from his mother, and therefore, the guns were illegal and that the killer had no legal permit. Therefore, he maintains that the guns were not the problem that caused the tragic killings at the school.

This kind of twisted logic is what has created the gun control problems to begin with. I suppose that if nuclear weapons were for sale, Mr. Decker would say that’s okay and it’s a behavior problem like drunk driving if some wacko sets one off.

Banning certain weapons is needed. Possessing guns by the billions in America is the problem. These weapons are killing innocent children and that’s the problem. Get them off the streets and check them in with the sheriff.
