I have been a tenant at the Greylock Valley neighborhood for approximately 10 years. While living here, I have seen numerous changes in administration.

Since Executive Director Jennifer Hohn has been in her position, there has been more consistency and progress than we have seen in years. Jennifer has truly been a blessing to the Greylock Valley neighborhood. She has brought in new lighting, doors, refrigerators, stoves and a playground, as well as freshly paved parking lots, a new heating system and numerous other upgrades. She has created a more sustainable, efficient and environmentally friendly environment in which residents can take pride.

Jennifer has also incorporated a new community room which will serve the Greylock Valley neighborhood in many capacities, and which has also been used for after-school programming, arts and crafts and more. She has worked with the Northern Berkshire Coalition to bring programs to the neighborhood. Jennifer has the basketball court resurfaced and repaired for summer league basketball, which is something that the neighborhood children absolutely love.

She is strongly committed to her tenants and has worked very hard to obtain grants to provide for events in the past, such as picnics and safety days.

She held a Christmas dinner party where children received gifts and families ate a nice, hot meal. Jennifer and the North Adams Housing Authority staff and their families have attended

functions and mingled with residents. Their efforts should not go unnoticed.

I will never forget going shopping for Christmas gifts with Jennifer because she wanted to be sure the right present was purchased for each neighborhood child.

The neighborhood has never looked better. The lighting and doors are beautiful. Exhaust fans have been installed in our bathrooms so we no longer have to open a window when we shower. Our clothes lines and the poles on our front and back porches have been painted. These are tiny details, but they aren’t so tiny.

Jennifer works very hard to make sure all of her tenants are well cared for and have safe, clean, up-to-date, energy efficient apartments, and she truly cares about the quality of life of her tenants.

She installed a state-of-the-art camera system connected with the North Adams Police, dramatically reducing disturbances in the neighborhood.

She constantly seeks what she can do to add value to individual’s lives. Most recently, Jennifer obtained a grant for a garden which would teach individuals how to grow their own produce.

I commend Jennifer on her hard work and willingness to go against the grain and create progress, and I feel fortunate to have her as executive director of the housing authority. Jennifer is not only a compassionate woman, she is also approachable.

I applaud her efforts and I look forward to seeing what she has in store for her tenants, as well as for the future of the housing authority. Jennifer Hohn will carry the housing authority into the future, and we are lucky to have her.
