It's time for the Adams Planning Board to make a decision about the proposed Spring Hill solar farm. For six months, the board has failed residents on both sides of this issue. Delaying a decision in order to kill a project is hardly a profile in courage. It's the easy way out.
As Planning Board members, it's your job is to understand how property is zoned and to apply the laws fairly, regardless of personal relationships with neighbors or "feelings" about the project. It's also your responsibility to make the tough calls and be strong enough to stand the heat. As citizens, it's our job to hold you accountable -- and we will.
The matter that's before the Planning Board is about more than just solar power. To what extent can our neighbors determine how we use our property? Do business owners need to be concerned about what "zoned industrial" means in Adams?
At 7 p.m., on Monday, Sept. 23, the Planning Board will meet at Town Hall once again. Will they make a decision or just kick the can down the road again? If you can, please attend.
