DALTON -- St. Agnes Academy, a pre-kindergarten through Grade 8 parochial school, has been granted re-accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
Upon completion of a school self-study, a visiting team rated the Academy on 15 standards and commended the school for embracing a new governance model to advance the mission of the Academy.
NEASC lauded the school for its mission; volunteerism among faculty, parents, students, volunteers, PTO, school board and parishioners; the quality of preschool program it offers; faculty commitment to professional development; an informative website and its vision in terms of short- and long-term planning.
The accreditation agency called St. Agnes Academy "a safe, clean and well-organized school."
The commission recommended that the Academy develop a procedure for follow-up school improvement plans and strategies, with a multi-year plan to include enrollment, textbooks, curriculum, technology, facilities, finance and development/advancement.
The Academy has formed a follow-up committee which will report progress to the Association at two- and five-year intervals.
