NORTH ADAMS -- Three North Adams young women, who taught last year in Japan under the overseas teaching program for children of U.S. servicemen, plan to continue for another year. They are Nancy Philie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Philie of 270 Franklin St.; Genevieve Gorczakoski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Gorczakoski of 133 Reed St.; and Ann Haggerty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Haggerty of 45 Windom Ter. ADAMS -- Airman Richard Millette, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Millette of 23 Notch Road, has been assigned temporarily to Camp Perry, Ohio as a member of the Air Force unit providing support services for the National Rifle and Pistol Matches. He completed the technical training course for administrative specialists at Amarillo AFB, Texas, before reporting to Camp Perry.

ADAMS -- Richard Dunn, assistant controller for Pfizer Inc. in Adams, has been named to lead the Industrial Division for the 1988-89 Northern Berkshire United Way fall campaign. He has selected Leon Parrott Jr., safety and work measurement coordinator at Pfizer; Daniel Bird, president of Novtex Corporation; and Michael Dicenzo, assistant vice president and commercial loan officer at Bank of New England-West in North Adams, as assistant chairmen.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Six associate professors on the Williams College faculty have been promoted to full professors. They are Kim Bruce, computer science; Dennis Dickerson, history; Susan Dunn, French; Antonio Gimenez, Spanish; Sherron Knopp, English; and Lawrence Raab, English.

ADAMS -- The Alert Hose Company, Adams volunteer fire department held their election of officers at the annual business meeting on Aug. 5. Officers are: Foreman, Anthony Piscioneri; 1st assistant foreman, Joseph Koscinski; 2nd assistant foreman, Andrew Brown; trustee for three years, Richard Ouellette; secretary, Timothy Ziemba; and treasurer, Andrew Gigliotti.
NORTH ADAMS -- In recent North Adams Men’s Summer Basketball League action, Key West beat Hoosac Bank, 78-56. Kevin Meehan scored 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the winners. Vern Cross chipped in with 22 points, while Al Giorgi added seven rebounds. For Hoosac, Chris Bullett led with 17 points and five rebounds while Bob Malloy scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds.
